I've read a trade article on this pool, it was pretty incredible how they plumbed it. The pool is is a 6 ft pool iirc and judging from the number of steps that would be about right.

Now that I look at it...that shadow threw me....guessing it was an old quarry or something.

All of the upper ledges and sun deck area are man made, shotcreted and carried the bulk of the plumbing. They tied the existing quarried hole after shaping it more to spec, built the rest of the pool out of traditional rebar and shotcrete construction (you can see the flagstone surface in the sundeck and step areas). It was a heckuva creative project

Where I grew up in Minnesota there is alot of granite quarries, with a few of them abandoned. The abandoned ones they fill with water so that it's not just a huge hole in the ground for obvious reasons!
We always went out to them to swim and party...good times!
